Sustainability breeds disruption

The impetus for sustainability across all industries and walks of life is unlikely to diminish, even though COP 29 hasn't attracted any of the world's largest economies and polluters. Even the election of Donald Trump in the US can only hinder the march of sustainability for a while, if at all. However, because so many countries seem unable (or unwilling) to work together on this issue, what is bound to happen is that efforts will be made in any number of directions, though all will be be driven by sustainable outcomes. As far as freight haulage is concerned, this is already happening across the globe with projects and trials being undertaken to determine how to move goods long distances (trunking) and then effect final delivery: there's Japan's conveyor belt road, the UK's 'platooning' trialGermany's electrified road trial and others, all of which look at the problems of freight trunking and tramping.

What will unify all the above efforts is that one thing will be required of all freight operators and that's that their transport management systems (TMSs) can cope with all of the changes that are coming. What’s great for operators is that when it comes to a SaaS-based TMS, any problem-solving is the responsibility of an operator's IT systems supplier -  and as far as we're concerned, Deltion relishes the challenge - we say bring it on!  Our belief is that a correctly designed TMS solution can be configured easily to meet whatever requirements anyone would reasonably need. So, in a nutshell, modern systems such as our own CarrierNet absolutely have to be future proofed and you can contact Bashir Khan here and try it out for yourself.
