Even in the toughest of economic times, we know that there is one aspect of a transport operator's business that should never be compromised - in fact, it should be preserved and, if at all possible, enhanced. That aspect is customer service. For instance, as recently as last Christmas, there were reports in the media of parcel delivery services letting customers down to the detriment, through negative publicity, of those transport operators involved. Sacrificing customer service to save costs (or by taking on more business than you can manage) is never a good idea, as the damage done to a company’s reputation is usually far longer lasting than any short term gain.
The good news is we are convinced that it is not necessary to sacrifice customer service on the altar of cost-cutting, rather it is possible you can undertake the former while achieving the latter. How do we know this is possible? We know because we are experts in transport management systems (TMSs) and can provide ample evidence through real-world examples of how a well designed, modern TMS can not only deliver on an operator’s customer promise via a streamlined, ultra-efficient delivery process, but also through a built-in, fully integrated BI platform put all relevant information about how well or ill a company’s processes and systems are working in the hands of management or any other appropriate stakeholder. By presenting this in a simple, easy-to-read dashboard format, a user may select the information that is most relevant to them, see clearly where something is not working and take steps to correct it - that way, if cost-cutting is indicated by a certain KPI, those costs will at least be cut in the correct area, which in turn means customer service should not be impacted adversely and may even be enhanced. With such a TMS BI system, all relevant stakeholders can be informed of KPIs proactively, without any increase in overheads. Management can also be notified of delays or other glitches in their transport operations before they become a major issue. That's just some of what is possible with this kind of TMS.
